- Clubs in Malaysian schools dedicated to combating swine flu through “cleanliness,” “health” and “safety.”
Malayasia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, recently launched a cleanliness campaign aimed at stopping the spread of swine flu,according to Bernama – the Malaysian National News Agency:
“If everyone cooperates and is fully committed to fighting the pandemic through cleanliness, I believe we can be a healthy and prosperous community,” he said.He said the direct involvement of all quarters, such as restaurants, hotels, operators of sanitation services and producers of sanitation goods as well as public cleanliness contractors, was important. …Muhyiddin, who is also education minister, said he would propose that the Education Ministry get schools to set up a club to make cleanliness, health and safety the lifestyle of students and pupils.He said these so-called “3K” clubs, the “K” standing for “kebersihan” (cleanliness), “kesihatan” (health) and “keselamatan” (safety), could help achieve the outcome of programmes implemented by the ministry, the police and other government agencies.Bernama reported that 874 people have caught the (A)H1N1 swine flu virus in Malaysia; of these, 775 have recovered fully, and the rest are receiving treatment.
